About Us

Crest

We are an evangelical Christian camp situated on Lake George, Kings County, Nova Scotia, owned and operated by the Eastern Valley United Baptist Association and run in cooperation with the Annapolis-Digby Baptist Association.

We seek to honour God by providing an atmosphere where campers encounter Jesus Christ and grow as His disciples through wholesome relationships with dedicated Christian leaders, in an inviting outdoor setting, while participating in safe programs and activities relevant to their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development.

Our facilities include various cabins to house both campers and staff, a volleyball court, an archery range, a campfire area, and the Kristen Rainforth Craft Lodge.  There are two outdoor washroom buildings (complete with showers!--one for girls and one for boys), a playing field, a private beach, trails, an outdoor chapel, and the insulated Merrick Lodge which houses the kitchen, dining room, additional bathrooms, and our rustic stone fireplace.  Merrick Lodge is sometimes available for spring and fall functions, both for the camp and, on occasion, for rental by outside organizations.

We are a member camp of CCI/Canada (Christian Camping International/Canada) and CANS (Camping Association of Nova Scotia).

Our crest (pictured above) is round to symbolize community and includes our motto: "Reaching out for new beginnings • Growing in creative discipleship."  It also includes:

  • Crowns: The Royal Crown signifies that Christ is Lord and King over all creation and the Crown of Thorns signifies God's suffering in Christ, the cost of discipleship, and the fact that God can use suffering to create new beginnings.
  • Sunrise: The sunrise signifies new life in Christ and the hope of new beginnings that God can, and will, bring to all situations in every part of life.  New beginnings are only limited by our vision of God at work.
  • Trees: Three, with the centre one being the largest to signify growth and dependence.  Together, they also represent the "wood" in Kingswood.
  • Soil: When present, the colour brown represents the soil and signifies the importance of our campers.  It is here that we sow the seed of God's Word.
  • Trilliums: When present, the white trillium represents the people of the past who have made unique contributions to Kingswood and the red trillium represents the present.  The two flowers are intertwined to signify that the past and present are joined together.  We are grateful for the past and we accept the Torch to press on into the future.
